Nora Cronin Presentation Academy Welcomes Orange County Legislator, Genesis Ramos

On Thursday, March 9th, Nora Cronin Presentation Academy (NCPA) welcomed Orange County Legislator, Genesis Ramos to visit and address the student body. The intent of the visit was be to introduce Ms. Ramos to the school and allow her to speak about leadership, aspirations and the importance of education as tool to help young women achieve their goals in life. Ms. Ramos addressed the entire student body (grades 5th-8th) during an assembly at 11am.

A lifelong resident of the City of Newburgh and a first generation Honduran-American, Ms. Ramos is the first women of color, and one of the youngest people, to be elected to the Orange County Legislature. Her experience as a local leader and connection to the Newburgh community are just a few of the facets that make her a role model for youth, particularly young females of color and Latin descent. NCPA follows the NativityMiguel model of schooling taking a faith based, holistic approach to education. In addition to traditional academics, NCPA addresses the physical, social, emotional, moral, and spiritual needs, and develops growth of the student in all areas. Ms. Ramos’s address to the students is an extension of this holistic approach to education helping to develop a well-rounded student as future leaders.

“We are so excited to welcome Ms. Genesis Ramos to NCPA and have her speak to our students. With March being Women’s History Month, I cannot think of a better opportunity to have our students be able to listen to and speak with a local female leader. I believe Ms. Ramos’s words will resonate with our young women and guide them for the rest of their lives,” said Dr. Tammy Barnett, Principal of Nora Cronin Presentation Academy.
