Anti-Systematic Racism Pledge

Nora Cronin Presentation Academy

As our nation’s communities reel from the killing of George Floyd and the subsequent protests – both peaceful and not – let us remember as the Board of Trustees for the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy that our responsibility is to embody the belief that everyone is a reflection of the image and goodness of God. That as the leadership of our School, we have a responsibility to not just fight the barriers of racism and injustice but to work towards eliminating them.

Our school’s sheer existence challenges an unjust status quo by championing the lives of our girls, their education and their opportunities, both now and in the future. We must not sit silently by while the ongoing existence and evidence of a racist culture continue to emerge and obstruct the experiences of our students and their families.

Now is the time for us to engage boldly in the acknowledgement of all that is true and to challenge those we encounter who would deny that truth. Now is the time for us to denounce privilege bestowed upon those of us because of race and to embrace our duty to fight the inequalities. In the words of the Reverend Desmond Tutu: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”

As the Board of Trustees for the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy, we have chosen the side of the oppressed and are working actively to empower them to freedom through God’s love and success through education.
